• Both films are amateur productions, but the models are far from amateur.

It’s comforting to see businesses and companies put out specials, deals, sales and coupons for those of us trying to save money during these economic times. It unusual to see what Pacific Sun Entertainment has doled out for gay porn lovers. They’re rolling out Taggaz Vol. 1/Thug Bait Vol. 1, two different DVDs of unreleased work in what’s billed as “Gay Porn’s 1st Double Feature”. Both are amateur productions of thugged out, straight or straight-acting black men having pretty hot gay sex, but one cast turns out a much more believable and erotic work than the other.

It’s not the first double feature in gay porn, though it may be the first with fresh new material rather than a re-issue of older films. Thug Bait follows the formula of websites like BaitBus.com, where a “straight” guy is lured by a woman to hook up for straight sex. The guy says yes, and in this case, goes back to a hotel where he’s blindfolded and told to wait for the girl to change. That makes me kind of giggle because does it take that much to change into your birthday suit? Well, the girl disappears, the cameraman “acts” like she’s still there while a guy goes down on our unsuspecting dude. Eventually the blindfold comes off and our straight guy is shocked to learn it’s a dude sucking him. There’s a bit of a revelation, fight or argument, and they go back to sucking, and then the straight guy gets to fuck.

The set-up in these scenes usually takes too long, feels too contrived and honestly isn’t humorous or sexy enough to get viewers riled up. While the alluring models are very straight-acting and could very well be gay-for-pay, their dialogue before, during and after the set-up and execution is boring and flat. Along with that, it feels like the sex is contrived, and none of four scenes feels organic, authentic or erotic. Once the big reveal is over and they get over a guy sucking their cock, the best scenes belong to Built and Jose who have a great look and deliver two really heated face- and ass-fuckings that show some emotion and desire. The other two scenes just show sex without much excitement.

On the other hand, the sex, the appeal and emotion in Taggaz is all in your face, which means the scenes are incredibly hot and very fulfilling. The two-hour film only has four scenes that run about 30 minutes, but in the case of Cornbread, Dre187 and Sarge, it’s okay.

It’s okay because the guys are constantly moving around and trying out new positions which keeps the sex and the scene fresh. Each scene begins with the camera shooting in a wide angle, giving the audience the idea of where this is taking place, and a full view of the models and their attire.

I liked the opening three-way with Sarge, Dre187 and Cornbread because they all had great bodies and looks, their skin tones contrasted well with each other and they couldn’t get enough of each other. They kissed, licked, caressed and groped each others’ stunning muscular bodies without being too hypermasculine or proud, unlike the guys in Thug Bait. These guys threw caution to the wind, and in return we get to see some acrobatic sex acts.

Sarge lies on top of Cornbread while Dre comes up from behind and starts to rim them both with long strokes of his tongue starting at Corn’s hole up to Sarge’s. Then Sarge flips over so that his back is on top of Corn’s back, throws his legs up and gives Dre another point of view for rimming. They suck each other, they 69, and they utilize the small setting, a gym mat, to its fullest potential. It’s Corn who gets fucked by Dre, then the camera flashes back to Dre being sucked by his costars, then back to Dre fucking Corn. While fucking him, Sarge pushes his cock into Corn’s mouth, but Dre wants a taste and leans down to suck on it before the three randy men shoot their huge loads.

There’s another three-way with Lman, Intrigue and Army Brat, and the biggest highlight is that Brat is the versatile man here who gets fucked by his costars, and then fucks Intrigue. Later, in his scene with Blunnt, Brat is a total bottom, but it totally works because Blunnt is all top. Blunnt is a muscular and beefy hairy guy while Brat is buff and smooth, but surprisingly both masculine men go down on each other, though Brat is more of a cock hound, before Brat gets fucked hard, slow and deep by Blunnt. Throughout the scene the two never lose their connection or chemistry, and in the end, this is the film’s other fantastic scene.

The two middle scenes of Taggaz, another three-way and Black and Hood’s scene, are good, but they’re bookended by two fantastic scenes where the machismo and masculinity are there, but it’s not overwrought or constantly being thrown in the audience's faces. That’s the biggest thing in Thug Bait that made me want to throw that bait back into the water for a bigger and better fish.
