The Naked Traveler

Learning Where to Go Naked: Fort Lauderdale, part 2 of 2

Naked travel opportunities abound in Florida especially in or near Ft. Lauderdale/Wilton Manors, one of the fastest growing gay communities in the United States.
Just a short drive from Ft. Lauderdale, there is an opportunity for the naked traveler to indulge in seeing and in being naked. Haulover Beach is one of the largest clothing optional beaches I've set eyes on. The visitor can treat himself to a feast for the eyes provided gratis by the sometimes hundreds of men lounging in their birthday suits or he can add his own assets to the scene.
The beach stretches for what seems like forever and after crossing an invisible line, it becomes clear that all the sun worshipers lazing about are gay. On Sundays especially, but on many other occasions, there seems to be wall-to-wall flesh from around the world. I've met many Canadians, Frenchmen, Germans, more than a few Italians, and most recently a cute guy from Slovakia - now there's a country not often heard from. And all of them making certain they'll never have a tan line. World travelers find their way to this beach with no trouble. But, surprisingly, not everyone knows about it.
This traveler would never have heard of it unless he'd visited another of south Florida's flesh havens. One of naked travel's prime rules is to keep one's ears as open as one's eyes. You never know what you'll learn.
Strip bars (a specialty of mine) are found almost everywhere (I've even heard of a hetero version in Utah, of all places). Ft. Lauderdale has its share and these are establishments where one can engage in satisfying skin sights. The guys are, almost to a man, not just good-looking but quite friendly, willing to spend time with customers even if the dollars aren't forthcoming.
The Boardwalk is where I learned about Haulover and is perhaps the largest of the stripper bars in the Ft. Lauderdale area. Boasting 50 or more strippers on certain nights, it draws a friendly crowd. On my first visit there some time ago, I met Enrique one of the most attractive dancers onstage that night. Somehow I caught his eye and after his set he sidled over, clad only in his g-string, to speak with me privately. That's how I learned about Haulover and its delights. What? You expected more detail?
Dudes and Johnny's are also perennial strip bar favorites. Dudes accommodates those who'd rather not gaze at sculpted male beauty by having a piano bar in a separate area. Johnny's tends to be a neighborhood hangout with a pleasing and relaxed atmosphere, not to mention lots of naked opportunities.
If you tire of seeing men covered in thongs, underwear, or towels, you can get yourself to West Palm Beach and Cupid's, where the men who entertain do it in the altogether. And it's altogether a lot of fun.
If perfecting your own body is what you'd prefer, then Better Bodies Gym, the only gay owned and operated gym in Ft. Lauderdale, is the place to go. Lots of equipment and a friendly atmosphere with gobs of eye candy. Or, you can combine improving your bod with a bit of naked fun at The Club, one of the nicest saunas you'll see in the states. The pool area alone is worth the price of admission - floating nude in the pool late at night, staring up at a starry sky framed by palm trees is not to be missed. For the doubters among you, The Club truly is a gym. There's lots of machinery, dumbbells, free weights, and more.
For quieter, even more relaxing nude opportunities, the gay resorts provide the naked traveler with the most in terms of comfort, relaxation, and fleshy sights. The Royal Palms, Orton Terrace, Worthington, and Elysium are just a few of the places near the Sebastian Street (gay) beach area that you'll find quite accommodating.
Like the Villa Venice, where Terry, the owner, has put in more than a million dollars in renovations, each of these resorts caters to its guests in style. Maybe not all of them have a man like Eddie, Villa Venice's charming, handsome, and devilishly delightful manager (who enjoys reminding those of us from colder climes just what kind of weather we'll be returning to as we reluctantly check out of the Villa bound for home), but they all have someone who will make your vacation memorable. For a full list of places like Pineapple Point, Cheston House, Orton Terrace, New Zealand House, The Grand Resort and others, search the Internet.
For those men wanting regularly scheduled bare activities and organized events, perhaps the Wildfyre Society is the answer. A naked delight, the Society (www.wildfyresociety.com) is a worldwide nudist club based in Ft. Lauderdale/Miami. Trips, parties, and other gatherings are all part of the fun. You'll be joining a club that will satisfy your every naked desire.
