Columbus, OH! Is probably what you'll say when you make a naked visit to this Midwestern enclave. It's gay friendly in a state not known for its social liberalism and it has a lot to offer the naked traveler. Of course, Columbus is also a college town and that means lots of university men to ogle. There are several gay areas where you will find bars, shops, and restaurants. The Short North is one of them and it is not short on gay life and naked delights. German Village is an architectural jewel and also a very gay gem - would we live just anywhere? High Street, North and South, runs through town and connects the neighborhoods. You'll want to start hitting the clubs so that you can take in the strippers - the Naked Traveler's unvarying first stop (unless there's a nude bar in town). Axis Nightclub (columbusnightlife.com) is open only on Fridays and Saturdays and hosts a rotating series of events, like Frat Night (every first Friday) where boys with college IDs get in free. What did I tell you about this being a college town? There's also always an all male revue (such a quaint term) and the guys are hot. At Pyramid II, Sundays and Tuesdays (check the schedule - things often change) are stripper nights. Garretts Saloon is a country-western bar that features some wicked hot naked buckaroos. As the song says, "Save a horse, ride a cowboy!" Havana (columbusnightlife.com) has some interesting drinks and on Sundays great strippers. You won't want to miss this if you happen to be in town on a Sunday. It kind of makes those Monday blues even bluer. Q Bar (q-nation.com) is another attraction that often features go-go guys. There's a video lounge, two bars, and a dance floor with enough black light ambience to make you squirm. In good weather, there's also a patio. On Wednesdays and other times, there are strippers. This is your chance to get up close and personal - and the men are Midwest hot. They seem to like their work, and from what the Naked Traveler could see, they appear really happy to see customers. Make no mistake, the place puts on a good show. Woofs (woofscolumbus.com), which bills itself as a "Man's bar," is a home away from home for bears, leathermen, cowboys, and more. Every Wednesday is hot stripper night. These boys play for keeps, and if you ever wondered what an otter is (part of the world of bears) every Tuesday is Otter Bingo. You'll find out. The Eagle in Exile (don't you just love the drama in that name?) has a strict dress code - so don't forget your leather and never, but never, wear cologne. The bar features strippers on Sundays. And you'll also see lots of hot bondage play going on in dark corners and some not-so-dark corners. Should you need a leather outfit, Columbus Leather is not far and can provide you with that and more. Tradewinds II (tradewindsii.com) is a place for "real men" as they themselves say. Leathermen and any men - but if you remember to wear your leather, you duck the cover charge. One interesting night they regularly present is Men in Uniform. Now, this Naked Traveler would rather see men out of uniform but there's something to seeing them dressed before you unwrap that package. And if the wrapping is a uniform, well ... give them a big, naked salute before you start. There are other bars and clubs, should you want to see shirtless guys dancing their way through the night. Wall Street is a big, crowded dance bar where you'll likely have a great time. Scorebar is a sports bar where gay and straight sports fans mix. Union Station Video Café, where you can get good drinks and food to go with them, is popular. Now if all that stripper skin isn't enough, Columbus has saunas. Club Columbus (the-clubs.com) is part of a chain that does a fantastic job of putting together a bathhouse where you'll feel comfortable and never bored. There's a gym with a full range of equipment and a lot of men in towels (not something you get at your local neighborhood gym), a seasonal pool, a steam room, dry sauna, whirlpool, media lounge, lockers, private rooms and more. And men in and out of towels. Oh, and porn stars on Wednesdays. What more could you ask? Flex in Columbus is an awfully good place for a naked traveler to spend some time. With a dark room, a dungeon(!), and a video amphitheater (talk about decadent), this is one place you will want on your schedule. They've got the requisite full gym and a huge shower area - so nice to watch other naked travelers soaping up. Add the sauna and steam rooms and you've got your evening, or maybe your weekend, planned out. Far from being a hick town in a Midwestern state, Columbus is a gay-friendly meeting point which draws a lot of men from all around. College guys, tourists, and just plain corn-fed Midwestern boys who want to have a hot, naked time are all to be found in this burg.
