In [2] of a Kind, Ryan Alexander plays identical celebrity twins who are filming a tell-all TV interview with gossip queen Bruce Boxxxer (Chi Chi LaRue out of drag). The story does not expand the "twins" theme beyond what others have done (and not even that far). It does a good job of showcasing a cute cast, though.
You'd figure, if someone is going to write a story about identical twins, that (a) they'd milk the twins theme for all it's worth, and (b) it would be a plum role. Here, the fruit gets left out. Ryan Alexander gives a sulking, monotone performance as Kyle and Ryan, the young celebrities heartthrobs who have been screen idols practically since birth. Their personal lives of mutual jealousy and discord run strongly counter to their sudsy public image. Recently, they were outed and Bruce, who has secret film footage of nearly every moment of their lives, has invited them to be on his TV show, Hollywood Live, to talk about it.
The sex kudos go to Tommy Blade and newcomer Damian Rios. Damian is the one who unintentionally outs the twins after Ryan lets his buddy Tommy bring a trick over to his house. Damian is the trick and his oral skills shine. He spends a lot — and I mean a lot — of time sucking Tommy's cock and licking his hole, with a manual assist from his fingers. Tommy lies there in nirvana, occasionally saying something like "stick your finger in ... stick three," then grabbing Damian's hand and sucking those same fingers.
Tommy sucks, too, and he gets fucked, but neither of these things has the slow-building heat of what came before. The scene ends with the kind of serendipitous good luck that a director can only hope for from time to time. Tommy and Damien are ready for their cum shots and they are lying side by side on the bed jacking off. Damian's huge initial squirt goes out of range of the camera, landing, as we will soon discover, on Tommy's forehead and the bridge of his nose. Damien waits for Tommy to cum, then quietly leans over and licks his face clean.
The rest of the film never gets as good. Scott Tanner, who plays the twins' personal manager, has a three-way in an outdoor hot tub with Christian Owen and Ryan. You can only wonder why this is a three-way, since they don't do anything that two can't do and Ryan does not participate in the fucking at all. But Tanner shines when he kneels between the cocks of Christian and Ryan and sucks them alternately. If you pay attention, you can see his tongue and throat muscles at work.
Jeremy Hall plays the twins' personal trainer. When he ends up in the steam room with Joey Austin, he offers to show Joey the workout he uses for his celebrity clients. You think they're in a gym or men's club, so when the scene switches to a bathtub filled with bubbles and strewn with rose petals, you gotta wonder what's happened. If the sex were hot enough, that thought might never have crossed your mind, but this scene leaves room for that thought.
Kyle supposedly loses his virginity in the final scene, with his boyfriend T.J. Young. But all Kyle does is suck, so once again the viewer is left to wonder, this time about the meaning of virginity. It's a decent scene though, with some tender kissing and mutual sucking leading up to Kyle's penetration of T.J. As they bask in the afterglow, the other twin arrives, and it's the real Kyle, discovering he's been the victim of an ugly joke played by Ryan.
Apart from the outstanding opening scene, [2] of a Kind never rises above predictability, nor does it engage in any kind of camera hanky-panky to exploit the twins concept. Even Chi Chi LaRue can at best only roll his eyes.
