In Ink Storm, Jake Deckard extends his versatility into a new dimension. Not only does he top and bottom, he works on both sides of the camera, as a model and as a first-time director. It's a great performance in all respects.
Ink Storm is a voyage into fetish territory, where tattoos are the subjects and their owners are the objects of desire. Newcomer Logan McCree, whose organic, full-body tattoo is a work of art like no other, will rivet your attention every moment he's onscreen, regardless of what he's wearing and what he's doing. His tattoo extends from the top of his scalp down to his ankles.
Logan gives a short explanation and "tour" to Steve Cruz when Steve visits Logan's tattoo parlor (is that expression still current?) looking to have some work done. Logan's torso is bare, prompting Cruz to wonder if he can see the rest of the picture. Logan obligingly lowers his jeans; he's wearing a jock strap, which he offers to remove as well, but only in the back room.
Off they go, for a furious coupling — so furious that Logan has to remind Cruz, "slowly." Ravenous blow jobs are followed by Logan eating and fucking Steve's hole. Logan's longitudinally inked cock acquires a streamlined effect while rapidly sliding in and out (they've tossed "slowly" out the window by now).
The next scene is not for the squeamish, because it depicts Montaz Morgan getting his cock tattooed by an unidentified artist. Morgan, wearing jeans, chaps, a harness and a leather hat, gasps, pants, grimaces and takes deep breaths as the artist's pen injects the dye into the penciled-on design. Once the work is completed, Morgan grabs his cock and jacks out a fiery load.
Tamas Eszterhazy is the only customer at a dimly-lighted bar where bartender Ricky Sinz is working with his shirt off. Between the two of them there's a lot of ink on display. They light cigarettes and stare. Sinz actually growls at Eszterhazy, following him into the men's room to watch him piss. Eszterhazy ignores him, which is just the motivation Ricky needs to break the ice when they return to the main bar. Sinz grabs Tamas' shirt and tells him to take it off, then the pants. Ricky does likewise with his own pants and Tamas drops to his knees and Sinz tells him to "smoke it." No recip for Tamas, who then gets his ass fucked violently in doggie and missionary positions.
Jake Deckard has fallen asleep while reading a vampire novel, and Logan returns as the vampire of Jake's dream. Logan prowls, slithers and sniffs, finally coming up under the covers and jumping on the sleeping victim, straddling his waist while biting him on the neck. There are no vampire special effects, like fake teeth or blood, but JD Slater's music, red dissolves and some flashy editing add spookiness and tension. Logan's physical movements don't suggest a wolf but they definitely have a panther-like grace that really enhances the brief sixty-nine. Deckard plays with Logan's ass, then fucks it. They collapse in an embrace, then repeat the ass play and fucking, with Deckard on the receiving end. One more role reversal, and they're spent.
The final scene brings much-missed Cory Koons back to the screen, with more hair on his jaw and less on his head, but as fuckable as ever. When he walks into Tober Brandt's tattoo shop, it's like entering a sexual Twilight Zone — an impression enhanced by additional editing effects that are sufficient to make the point without competing with the sex. It's obvious at once that each has what the other wants, and the chair that they fuck on (barber's chair? dentist's chair? proctologist's chair?) adds challenges that only enhance their determination.
Ink Storm is a film guaranteed to make watchers sit up and take notice. It's just different enough to stand out from the pack, and new director Deckard has clearly paid attention to such details as sound, lighting, editing and music, using them in subtle ways to enhance the performances of his models.
For trivia buffs: "tattoo" in Latin is "stigma."
