The Death of Scorpio is a 1982 film that has been remastered for DVD. Shawn Gregory plays an artist who spends two years hatching a plot to revenge himself on the men he holds responsible for the break-up of his eight-year relationship with his lover Michael.
    Giuseppe Welch, a bubble-butted blond, is his first victim. Claiming that bygones are bygone, Shawn invites Giuseppe to pose for him, turning the modeling session into a furious sex session, then offering Giuseppe a drink afterwards, which contains a slow-acting poison.
    Giuseppe makes headlines the next day when his body is discovered. With one down, Shawn makes a similar appointment to paint Scorpio. As before, modeling is a prelude to sucking, rimming and fucking, Shawn being the bottom both times. Also as before, a poisoned highball proves to be Scorpio's key to the afterworld. Keep an eye out in some of the street shots for views of New York's twin towers, but beware of the pompous narrative ("goodbye sweet Scorpio").
    One man remains: Michael himself. Shawn uses the deaths of Scorpio and Giuseppe as a pretext for a reunion with Michael. No modeling this time; they get right to the sex, with Shawn topping, then preparing one of his signature deadly cocktails. But Michael's suspicions have been aroused along with his libido, and he switches the drinks, watching his former lover quaff the deadly potion as Bread's hit song "If" (If a picture paints a thousand words, Then why can't I paint you?) comes up on the soundtrack and Michael cradles Shawn's head on his lap, tenderly stroking his hair as he dies.
    It's maudlin and touching at the same time — not the sort of thing you expect in a porn film. The sex is voracious, especially the oral scenes, in which no cock remains incompletely swallowed.
    Here's a bit of porn trivia. When casting his 1998 film Family Values, director Jerry Douglas wanted Scorpio, who was living in Florida at the time, for the role of Kurt Young's father. But Scorpio needed a complete set of new teeth, which wasn't in the budget, so the role went to Derrick Stanton, who got a Hall of Fame award out of it while Scorpio remained in obscurity.
