There are a lot of things in the world I don't understand. One of them is the term "hung bottom," which is used to describe Shinuchi, the star of Gay Asian Amateurs Volume 1: The Passions of Shinuchi. I mean, unless you're a top who happens to be a size queen, who cares if the bottom is hung like a donkey, or more hung than his top? What I do understand is that this volume has its equal balance of up and downs.
    Those who love them some Asian twinks are going to go gaga over this film. According to the back of the DVD box, the guys range in ages from 18 to 25. Everything about the film is amateur: the models, the videography, and the art direction.
    There are a couple of issues with the models, one of them being their comfort level on camera. The most obvious one is Tuk. He's very cute, but in his scene with Moto, you can see how nervous he is. His performance shows this as well, as it's obvious he's holding back, never letting the sexual being inside come out. At times it seems like Moto is doing all the work as Tuk just stands or lays there occasionally touching his costar or himself.
    Later in the film, Mac almost gives the same performance as Tuk, but his doesn't feel like nerves. In a way it seems like he may be or curious, and his first time with another guy, in this case with Tommy, might be a little overwhelming.
    Tuk should take a lesson from Shinuchi, who comes off as a very horny guy. Not only does he love pleasuring himself as we see when he jacks off, but he's all over costars Guy and Vic. Immediately as the camera starts rolling, he's groping, caressing, sucking and kissing them before lubing their uncut cocks and sticking them up his hole.
    That's another issue: the action moves too fast. The six scenes are broken into separate vignettes, and last about 15 minutes. Just as the guys as warming up, they immediately jump into cock sucking where most of the bottoms do it, then after a few licks jump into the fucking where only the tops cum. Editing is our friend, but most of these guys seem playful and look like they have lots of stamina, so stretching out the scene a bit wouldn't hurt.
    Tommy is the only model besides Shinuchi to appear in two scenes. His first scene with Mac is good, but in the end he performs with a member of the crew, Jerry, a white older man.
